California School Employees Association Urges No on Prop 45, The Corporate Polluting Projects Proposition
SAN JOSE — The California School Employees Association (CSEA), an influential union that represents nearly a quarter-million public school support professionals across California, today announced its opposition to Proposition 45, the California Chamber of Commerce’s 41-page ballot initiative that would roll back state environmental protections and weaken the state’s defense against President Trump’s attack on state clean air, clean water and public health laws.
“Healthy communities are critical for our educators, students, and families,” said Adam Weinberger, CSEA’s Association President. “Prop 45 is a Trump-like attack being bankrolled by corporate interests and developers to strip away the protections our communities rely on.”
CSEA is the largest classified school employee union in the United States, representing nearly 250,000 school support staff throughout California.
CSEA joins more than 300 other organizations opposed to Proposition 45. They include the California Democratic Party, California Professional Firefighters and the State Building & Construction Trades Council of California.
The independent Legislative Analyst’s Office concluded the measure will likely cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.
