SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE EDITORIAL BOARD: NO ON PROP 45

“Prop 45 is poll-tested political Swiss cheese, not a thoughtful effort to produce better outcomes. Vote no.”

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Chronicle, northern California’s largest news source, is urging its readers to vote no on Proposition 45. Proposition 45 is the California Chamber of Commerce’s 41-page ballot initiative that would roll back state environmental protections and weaken the state’s defense against President Trump’s attack on state clean air, water, and public health laws.

“...Throwing a grab bag of poll-tested projects together and suggesting they should be evaluated on substantially similar terms is neither reasonable nor good policy…The measure as written would lock California into a regulatory regime that makes it easier to build the same environmentally ruinous projects that gave us CEQA in the first place,” notes the editorial. “Prop 45 is poll-tested political Swiss cheese, not a thoughtful effort to produce better outcomes. Vote no.”

Read the entire editorial, headlined “CEQA is a mess. Prop 45 is even messier.”

The San Francisco Chronicle is Northern California's largest newspaper, reaching over six million monthly users across its print and digital platforms.
